Scooter crash on Cornwall's A30 leaves elderly man with serious head injuries

Police have issued an appeal after an elderly man suffered serious head injuries following a scooter crash on the A30 in Cornwall.

Officers have confirmed the rider, in his 70s, was rushed to hospital on Tuesday evening.

His was the only vehicle involved in the collision at Zelah.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm, closing the road for several hours.

Now Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw what happened, or any road users with dashcam footage, to come forward.

In a statement the force said: "Police were called around 8.30pm on Tuesday 26th April to a single-vehicle collision on the A30 at Zelah, Cornwall.

"The collision involved a Lambretta Li 150 Series 3 scooter and the rider, a man in his 70s from Truro, sustained serious head injuries.

"He was taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and would also like to hear from any road users who may have any footage to assist with the investigation.

"Please email 101@dc.police.uk or telephone 101, quoting log 0815 of 26th April.

"The road was closed for around two hours.

"Police would like to thank the public for their support and patience while officers closed the road to carry out investigative work".
