After a night of downpours across the Duchy and Devon, the Met Office has issued two more weather warnings for Cornwall.

Forecasters say heavy rain could cause more flash flooding and travel disruption on Friday night and all day on Sunday.

As of 2pm on Friday, one flood warning remained in force for Cornwall, for the River Tamar from Greystone Bridge to Cotehele.

Alerts are also in force for the Lower, Middle and Upper Tamar, the River Lynher and the North Cornwall Rivers.

The Environment Agency says additional warnings could be issued if already high river levels continue to rise.

The first of the weekend rain warnings will be in force from 9pm on Friday (October 29th) until 9am on Saturday. The second will be in force from midnight until 3pm on Sunday 31st October.

What can we expect?

The Met Office alert states heavy rain may lead to some flooding and disruption in places and we can expect:

Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

On Sunday, flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.

Friday's warning states: "A band of heavy rain will reach west Cornwall and west Wales later on Friday evening, moving eastwards overnight, clearing during Saturday morning. 10 to 20mm of rain is likely to fall quite widely with 30-35mm in a few places.

"With this rain falling in only a few hours, and following earlier heavy rain leaving ground already saturated, some flooding is likely in places.

"The rain is also likely to be accompanied by strong and gusty southerly winds".

Sunday's warning states: "A band of rainfall will arrive across southwest England and Wales shortly after midnight and then push quickly northeastwards (lasting only 2 to 3 hours in any location) before finally clearing from Essex and Kent into the North Sea during the late afternoon.

"Within these 2-3 hours it is thought likely that some locations will see 20-30mm of rainfall. Recent heavy rainfall has left this region sensitive, and these additional (rainfall) totals are thought likely to cause some additional surface water flooding.

"The wind will also strengthen in association with this band of rain, and although impacts from wind alone are expected to be very low, the wind will likely increase leaf fall from trees, which coupled with the rainfall will increase the risk of localised flooding and make travelling conditions even more tricky".
