People in Cornwall thanked for generous donations to 'Wall of Kindness'
Donations of coats, jumpers and duvets have been left outside Truro Cathedral
People in Cornwall are being thanked for their generosity of donations to the 'Wall of Kindness' outside Truro Cathedral.
The wall has been designed to allow people to make donations of basic items and coats to keep people warm, for those in need to pick them up.
Sean O'Neill, chief operating officer for Truro Cathedral, said: "This time of year, any year, it's harder for people and temperatures drop and the addition of a coat can be really helpful.
"Also people are struggling to afford basic items and this gives people the opportunity to pick up something when they really need it".
The 'Wall of Kindness' is open to anybody in need or struggling to afford basic items as the rising costs are putting pressure on households, families and individuals across the Duchy.
The cathedral has teamed up with Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust as reports show more people are being forced into homelessness - and after noticing an increase in the number of people coming to them unable to afford warm clothing.
Sean added: "People can bring items of clothing down, predominantly coats but we are seeing people bring other things. So there was also a duvet that was brought in.
"Other people are bringing down things like Pot Noodles, all sorts, so you can bring down anything from items to clothes".
Sean continued: "People have responded very well - better perhaps than we ever expected. It's for absolutely anyone, you see people donating and picking up and these are people from all walks of life.
"The original plan was that it'd be here until the end of February but I think it'll be here for a lot longer. I hope it's here to stay".
