Young man who died after crash near Newquay was 22-year-old moped rider

If you were travelling near Newquay in the early hours of yesterday morning (26th April), police investigating a fatal crash want to hear from you.
They have confirmed a moped rider died after a collision with a car on the A3075 near Gwinnear Fisheries.
He was from the local area and 22-years-old.
The incident happened at around 4.30am on Monday 26th April, closing the road between the Trevemper Roundabout and Rejerrah Crossroads for most of the day.
Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw what happened, especially those with dashcam footage, to come forward, following a man's arrest on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 48-year-old has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
"Police were called to a collision involving a black Mercedes estate car and a grey Aprilia moped on the A3075 near Gwinnear Fishery, Newquay, this morning, Monday 26 April, at 4.30am.
"The rider of the moped, a 22-year-old local man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.
"The road remained closed as officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious Collision Team carry out an investigation of the scene.
"The driver of the car, a 48-year-old man from the Newquay area, sustained minor injuries and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
"Any witnesses, or anyone in the area the time and may have seen either vehicle involved prior to the collision, or has dashcam footage, is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 74, 26/4/21".
