11-hour rescue mission to help cow stuck below cliffs in Cornwall

Coastguard crews and firefighters rushed to the rescue on the Lizard

A cow has been rescued from the bottom of a cliff on the Lizard Peninsula.

Coastguard crews and firefighters from Mullion, Tolvaddon and Bodmin were all called to the scene on Thursday morning.

The animal was stuck at the base of a cliff near to Church Cove.

A rope technician helped to bring the cow back to safety follow an 11-hour rescue mission.

"Team paged at 9am to assist Mullion CFRS and Cornwall CFRS crews from Tolvaddon and Bodmin, recovering a cow at the base of a cliff, nr Church Cove, Lizard.

"Team provided edge safety whilst a rope tech was lowered to help other teams. 11 hrs later the cow was safely recovered."
