The organisers of the first ever Bude Pride have issued a reminder about coronavirus safety.

Bude Pride 2021 is being held at The Bude Castle Heritage Centre, which was lit up in rainbow colours on Friday night.

The outdoor event to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community is taking place alongside Cornwall Pride's main celebrations in Newquay.

It will feature everything from food and drink and yoga workshops to live entertainment and music.

Officials are reminding visitors to be aware of their Covid status and are asking people not to attend if they have any symptoms.

Posting on the event's official Facebook page, organisers said: "We just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder of some advice to remain safe at our event re: Covid.

"Bude Pride 2021 is an outdoor event, including a well ventilated marquee, and hand sanitiser will be available.

"We politely request that those attending our event are aware of their Covid status, and should you have symptoms or a positive result that you do not attend.

"Remember, we are all taking individual precautions towards the pandemic, so please be mindful of others around you, especially as it gets busier.

"Should you have any concerns whatsoever do not hesitate to speak with one of the volunteers, event organisers or security staff.

"Pride is about respecting everyone’s differences, that includes their personal approach to Covid and safety".

Bude Pride 2021 will take place between 11am and 5pm on Saturday 28th August, continuing from 10am - 1pm on Sunday 29th August.
