Parts of Cornwall have recorded temperatures hotter than Florida as the heatwave continues.

The Kernow Weather Team says some areas have reached a scorching 32C!

The Met Office weather warning for extreme heat remains in force through until Thursday night and Public Health England has extended its amber heat health alert through until Friday.

We have been to visit Jubilee Pool in Penzance where locals and holidaymakers have been taking a dip to cool off.

One couple, Maria and Gavin have come to the Duchy from Newport in south Wales especially to visit the famous sea pool lido.

They said: "We've actually come to Cornwall for this, for the outdoor pool, it's cold to start with but once you're in there and you relax into it, it's lovely.

"It's really refreshing, just can't wait to go in and have a bit of fun with the kids.

"We've come down especially for the outdoor natural salt pool."

Indria is originally from South America, and now lives in London, and is in the Duchy on holiday.

"It's so beautiful, this is our first time in Cornwall, and it's just stunning, everywhere we've been is beautiful. we're really enjoying the weather.

"There are not many places in the UK you can do this, and with the pandemic and everything, it's really good.

"I just want to jump in that water right now!"

But unfortunately the hot weather is not here to stay.

The Met Office has now issued a two-day weather warning for torrential downpours for Cornwall, and it's in force over the weekend.

"Outbreaks of rain and some thunderstorms are expected to spread from the southwest on Friday night, this introducing unsettled conditions to much of England and Wales for Saturday and Sunday.

"Heavy, thundery showers are likely to break out by day, particularly on Sunday when these could be widespread and locally torrential.

"Lightning and hail are also expected. Rainfall amounts will vary from place to place, but there is the potential for up to 100 mm to build up in some locations over the course of the weekend, much of which could fall in a short period of time."
