Prince Charles and Camilla to visit this year's Royal Cornwall Show
They will take a tour, meet with exhibitors and competitors and enjoy the Grand Parade of Livestock
It has been announced that the Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cornwall are to make an official visit to the three-day Royal Cornwall Show this year.
The Royal couple will be welcomed on the second day, Friday 10th June 2022.
Prince Charles first visited the Royal Cornwall in 1970 and was last at the show in Wadebridge in 2018, accompanied on that occasion as well by Her Royal Highness.
The Prince of Wales has been the Patron of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, the charity that organises the Royal Cornwall Show, since 2002, when he succeeded HM The Queen.
This is a particularly special year for a royal visit, with the Platinum Jubilee cerebrations taking place the week before the Show, plus His Royal Highness will himself be celebrating 70 years as The Duke of Cornwall, a position he has held since Her Majesty The Queen ascended to the throne in 1952.
Part of plans for Their Royal Highnesses will be a tour of various parts of the Show, meeting with exhibitors and competitors, as well as enjoying the Grand Parade of Livestock.
His Royal Highness will also make the presentation to the 2021 and 2022 winners of his own award, The Duke of Cornwall’s Award for Farm Diversity.
To commemorate the impressive milestone, the RCAA has commissioned local potter Adrian Brough, from Lelant, to produce a large pitcher depicting Cornish agriculture and animals, to commemorate His Royal Highnesses’ time as The Duke of Cornwall and Patron of the RCAA.
The pitcher will be presented to His Royal Highness during his visit to the Show, together with a bouquet of flowers given to Her Royal Highness, created by the Duchy College’s floristry students.
Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, Christopher Riddle ARAgS, welcomed the announcement. He said: “It is an incredible honour to welcome The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the Royal Cornwall Show once again this year and it will be a real highlight of the event.
"So close to the previous visit of Their Royal Highnesses in 2018, and with this year being a landmark one for the Royal Family, we are even more honoured that the Royal Cornwall Show has been chosen to help mark the occasion”
