Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to following a serious assault in Newquay.

Officers say a man suffered a serious head injury and needed hospital treatment following the incident outside a kebab shop.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday 29th August, however police have only just released pictures of a man they want to speak to in connection with what happened.

They believe the person pictured may be able to help with their enquiries.

Anyone who saw something at around 3.30am is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police by calling 101.

Police said: "Police investigating a serious assault have released pictures of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

"It happened at around 3.30am on Sunday 29th August, outside the Istanbul Grill, Cliff Road, Newquay.

"During an altercation between two groups, a man sustained a serious head injury which required hospital treatment.

"Police investigating the incident would like to identify the man pictured as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

"We are aware that the quality of the image is low, however at this time this is the only image we have and hope that the public may still be able to assist.

"Call police with information on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/074834/21".
