A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help a Cornish business that was completely destroyed by fire.

The blaze broke out in the Atlantic Fryer fish and chip van at St Anthony on the Roseland on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from St Mawes, Truro and Helston were all called to the scene.

The flames also spread to a shipping container and crews used hose reel jets to out the fire out.

"Cornwall Fire and Rescue currently have appliances from St. Mawes and Truro as well as the water carrier from Helston at a fire involving a shipping container which involves a propane cylinder, industrial fridges and cooking products, currently hose reel jets are in use."

The damage after the blaze

The fish and chip van was gutted by the flames, including the unit, cooking equipment, fridges, freezers and stock.

Now the local community is trying to raise £4,000 to help the owner get back up and running.

"Help Tristan and Jacob bring back the Atlantic Fryer!!

"Absolutely devastating news for Tristan this morning to find the van had completely gone up in flames, not only that, but his entire unit went with it.

"Absolutely nothing is salvageable, the unit itself is a write off, all of his cooking and prep equipment, fridges, freezers, fresh stock (even his wellies!) has completely gone.

"There have no doubt been countless times that Tristan has saved us all from cooking by providing his amazing take out (not to mention the witty banter which comes free of charge!).

"Come in guys, lets show him the appreciation we all have for him and get the fryer back up and running!!"
