School in Truro evacuated students after receiving a 'bomb threat' by phone
Devon & Cornwall Police have since confirmed they do not believe the threat made to Richard Lander is credible
A school in Truro took the decision to evacuate this morning (Friday 19th November) after receiving a bomb threat.
An email sent to parents has been shared on social media, suggesting the threat was made by phone.
The message from the headteacher went on to say students were sent to the field while the building was searched.
One mum told us she heard from her daughter a couple of hours later to say they had all been allowed back to class.
The email says the school was following all procedures to keep staff and students safe.
Devon & Cornwall Police have since issued a statement to say they do not believe the threat is credible.
The force said: "We are aware of a call made to Richard Lander School in Truro early this morning which included a threat to the school premises.
"An officer visited to listen to the call and gave advice to school staff.
"We do not believe that the threat is credible and all subsequent action including an evacuation was a decision made by the school and not the police".
We have contacted Richard Lander School for further information and updates will appear below.
