Arson suspected after overnight fire between Redruth and Camborne
Flames engulfed a derelict building and several vehicles on South Crofty Way in Pool
A fire has torn through a derelict building between Redruth and Camborne overnight and arson is suspected.
Several vehicles were also caught in the blaze on South Crofty Way in Pool.
Firefighters from Tolvaddon and Hayle were scrambled just after 9pm on Friday.
An aerial ladder platform from Newquay was also sent to the scene after the first crews to arrive called in back-up.
Police were also called to the scene of the fire and an investigation is due to be carried out on Saturday.
"At 2151hrs Critical Control received several calls to a building fire that also involved some vehicles.
"Two appliances from Tolvaddon and a third from Hayle were immediately mobilised to the incident. On arrival crews found the building and several vehicles well alight and used two breathing apparatus a hosereel and a jet to stop the fire spread.
"The building was single storey and measured 3m by 6m.
"At 2226hrs the Aerial Ladder Platform from Newquay was requested to assist with extinguishing the fire due to the confined access within the garage and the need to tackle it from above.
"Arson is suspected and Police are in attendance.
"Fire Investigation will be carried out in daylight hours tomorrow (Saturday 20th February).
"The incident will soon be scaling down".
