Falmouth Week is set to get off to vibrant start tonight, with a sea of pink wigs across the town.

The week which will run from today (5th August) until Sunday 14th August and expects to see 100,000 visitors for events including a concerts, a carnival and the famous Red Arrows!

The first of the activities bringing in thousands to the town centre will be their annual Pink Wig night, with a parade starting at 6.45pm and a night of music and pink themed drinks in aid of breast cancer.

Richard Gates, Falmouth Town Manager, said: "There'll be up to around 15,000 women in pink wigs which is a sight to be hold. That takes place later on this evening, it kind of gets the week going really.

"There'll be in the region across the week probably around 100,000 people and because the weather forecast is looking so good and we would advise people with sun cream, hydrate and all of those things then that's only going to mean that more and more people are going to come in.

"There's lots of different activities we try and do to try and make that interesting for all ages and that's the feedback that we have. There's always going to be more things we can add to it but we try and do a good selection".

Later on in the week there will be a sailing regatta as well as evening entertainment, RNLI fun day, carnival, firework displays and Wednesday's Red Arrows display.

Richard Gates continued: "We would very much say plan your journeys, whether that's using the branch lane on the trains, getting in early, car sharing, get in as early as possible because it will be very very busy.

"What we try and do is give paid activities and free activities. The carnival night is free to attend, then other nights are ticketed and various different prices. There is also hard copy tickets from the box office. Of course then people can support the businesses in the town.

"There's such a variety of flavour of activities going on".
