Visitors to Cornwall told to 'book, respect, protect and enjoy' as lockdown eases
Public health officials have issued an appeal, as tourism bosses predict the Duchy's busiest ever summer
Holidaymakers heading to Cornwall are being urged to 'book, respect, protect and enjoy' after the latest lifting of lockdown.
Tourism bosses in the Duchy are already predicting our busiest ever summer.
They are expecting 210,000 visitors a day!
Now public health officials have issued an appeal to those travelling to the region, after a surge in cases of the Indian variant across the UK.
Visitors and locals are being urged to stick to the guidelines, including washing hands, not touching your face and social distancing.
Director of Public Health Rachel Wigglesworth has this message, as attractions, pubs, restaurants, hotels and B&Bs reopen.
"The same things that protest us from coronavirus are the same things that are going to protect us from the Covid variants.
"They are keep washing your hands, not touching your face, to keep your distance from people and also make sure that you're outdoors and in fresh air as much as possible when you meet other people.
"It's really important to maintain social distancing in those venues because we still have to do that and ensure that we're abiding by the rules.
"And supporting our businesses as well because they're trying to keep things as safe as possible for us so if we show respect for the rules, I think that will be really appreciated".

Visitors are being asked to book ahead for accomodation, as well as dining out, attractions and activities.
Tourists are also asked to respect the countryside and local communities by picking up litter and showing tolerance and patience at all times.
As always, they are reminded of the need to follow public health guidance to protect themselves and others.
Finally, with restrictions being lifted and holidays possible for the first time in months, people can enjoy Cornwall's countryside, culture and attractions.
Malcolm Bell, chief executive of Visit Cornwall, said: "We want everyone who comes here to make fantastic memories and have the best holiday possible.
"By booking ahead, following the public health guidance and showing respect to the countryside and each other, we can all enjoy everything Cornwall has to offer".
