Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a serious crash near Penzance.

They have confirmed two people suffered serious injuries after a tractor and two cyclists collided.

It happened in the New Mill area, close to Trythall Community Primary School.

Both casualties were treated at the scene on Wednesday afternoon.

One rushed to Treliske Hospital.

The other was airlifted to Derriford and is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

Anyone who saw something just before 12pm is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police by calling or emailing 101.

"Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving and tractor and trailer and two bicycles, at around 11.50am on Wednesday 19 May.

"The collision occurred near Trythall Community School in New Mill, Penzance, Cornwall.

"Two casualties were treated at the scene and one of them was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

"The patient has been described as critical but stable.

"The second casualty was taken to Treliske Hospital, with serious injuries.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene to investigate and the road was cleared by about 8.30pm.
