The number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded in Cornwall since the start of the pandmic has reached 395.

Cornwall Council says as of the week ending the 7th February, 129 patients were being treated in our hospitals.

Its figures show there had been 459 new cases in the previous seven days.

However, that was down by almost a third (28%) on the week before.

The Duchy's local authority has shared the figures, asking everyone to continue to stick to the Covid restrictions, especially at half-term.

"Covid-19 cases in Cornwall are continuing to fall.

"We need everyone to keep following lockdown rules. Thank you to everyone who is doing this.

"The more we can bring our cases down, the less pressure our NHS will be under and the faster we can get back to normal".

On Monday 15th February, the government announced that more than 15 million people had received at least their first dose of the vaccine.

The next phase of the rollout is getting underway, with the NHS now aiming to invite those in the next five priority groups and that includes the over-50s.

News on the vaccine targets means that in the coming days, ministers will start considering how they will ease lockdown restrictions.

We are expecting an announcement from the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in the week of 22nd February.
