A stretch of the main road that runs from Chiverton Cross towards Goonhavern and Newquay is blocked due to a crash.

There is said to be queuing and very slow traffic along the A3075 this evening.

It is understood that the collision has happened in the Penhallow area but it is not yet known how serious it is or if anyone has been injured.

The road is due to be used as a diversion route from 9pm tonight (Friday 20th May) as dualling works are carried out on the A30.

To enable a temporary traffic switch at the Chybucca junction, the A30 will be closed in both directions between the Chiverton Cross roundabout and Boxheater junction from 9pm on Friday, 20th May until 6am on Monday, 23rd May.

During the weekend closure, eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A3075 at Chiverton Cross to Goonhavern and along the B3285 to rejoin the A30, and vice versa for westbound traffic.

It is therefore expected that the road will get much busier within the next few hours.

Inrix Traffic and Travel says: "A3075 Newquay Road in both directions blocked, very slow traffic due to accident from B3284 (Four Burrows) to B3285 Halt Road (Goonhavern)."

As of 7pm, the road is still blocked in both directions.
