333 more people test positive for coronavirus in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
The weekend figures take the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to more than 12,500
The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly increased by 333 over the weekend, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 12,528 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (February 1) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, up from 12,195 the same time on Friday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now stands at 2,191 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 5,966.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 62,970 over the period, to 3,835,783.
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's cases were among the 192,083 recorded across the south-west, a figure which rose by 4,140 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
