17 patients with coronavirus cared for in Cornwall's hospitals last week

That is according to official data as of last Tuesday

17 patients with coronavirus were being cared for in hospitals across Cornwall last week, according to official data.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 10 coronavirus patients as of last Tuesday.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on March 16 was down from 13 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 83% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 60.

The figures also show that 14 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to March 14. This was down from 16 in the previous seven days.

Meanwhile the Cornwall Partnership Trust was caring for seven coronavirus patients.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on March 16 was up from five on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 75% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 28.

The figures also show that two new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in the week to March 14. This was down from five in the previous seven days.

Across England there were 5,664 people in hospital with Covid as of March 16, with 882 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by 67% in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 64%.
