More than 150 patients with coronavirus were treated in Cornish hospitals last week

That is according to the latest NHS figures

Over 150 people with coronavirus were being treated in hospitals across Cornwall last week.

New figures show the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 105 Covid patients in hospital as of last Tuesday.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on February 2nd was up from 89 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 more than doubled in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 52.

Meantime the Cornwall Partnership Trust was caring for 49 coronavirus patients in hospital.

The NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on February 2nd there was down from 54 on the same day the previous week.

There were five beds occupied by Covid-19 patients four weeks ago in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Across England there were 27,397 people in hospital with Covid as of February 2nd, with 3,324 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised has increased by 4% nationally in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has increased by 40%.

The figures also show that 78 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to January 31. This was down from 97 in the previous seven days.
