Aldi launch limited edition gender reveal Cuthbert Cake

Having a baby soon and preparing for a big gender reveal? Well, supermarket giant Aldi may just be able to help, as the company have launched a limited edition version of their ever-so-popular Cuthbert cake!
Although their Cuthbert cake has recently been in the press for the wrong reasons, due to M&S’s legal action over its Colin the Caterpillar trademark, it has made a strong comeback and is more popular than ever.
What is the new Cuthbert cake?
Aldi have revealed they are launching a gender reveal version of their infamous Cuthbert cake, which is decorated with blue and pink smarties, and either blue icing or pink icing inside the chocolate sponge layers.

'Limited Edition Gender Reveal Cuthbert!! If you want to announce your baby’s gender with an icon, then apply through the link in our bio 👀'. (sic)
Can I buy it?
Unfortunately at this time, the limited edition Cuthbert cake is not for sale in Aldi stores. Instead, customers are being urged to enter a competition to win the special cake.
How can I win it?
If you fancy getting your hands on the gender reveal cake, you must send an email to GenderRevealCuthbert@aldi.co.ukwith your full name, gender of the baby, address of your closest Aldi store, and no more than 150 words explaining why you or a loved one should receive a cake .
You have until 11:59pm on 14th September 2025 to apply.
Why are they doing it?
Aldi have launched the competition to celebrate most babies being born in the month of September, as well as the surge of gender reveal parties.
According to figures, two thirds (58%) of millennials choose to celebrate them, whilst 48% of Gen Z’ers admitting they have attended an average of three gender reveal parties in the last five years.
Other research shows some people shell out £150+ for the cake alone, with 5% of Brits even admitting they would considering naming their child Cuthbert...
