I don’t know about you - but with valentine’s day fast approaching… It’s becoming harder and harder to escape the endless Facebook posts, adverts, roses and all the love heart chocolate everywhere (BTW... when does the choc go on sale?)

Now, I’m single… and I’m actually really enjoying it! I’ve been so busy at uni and work, that I haven’t really had the time to fit in any flirting. So here I am, living the solo life and embracing it! Who needs love to have fun, right?

I couldn't do this all on my own... so I gave my single friend Suz a call.

MEET SUZ!

My favourite single gal, Suz

Suz works for Border.Digital and is usually found working behind her Mac at unsociable hours, training for some or another running mud race, on the school run with her daughter or out on adventures with her friends.

We know, there is soooo many different ways to spend February the 14th whether you’re single or in a relationship! Suz and I thought we'd try out a few things which might inspire you too!

Happy Valentines Day!

Lauren & Suz x

1. Fall in love with something new...

We decided to try something new and wacky... Suz suggested salsa dancing! I've never actually tried it before. Here's how it went...

We sort of managed it... I think Suz did better than me. Do you know what though? It was so fun! You don't have to participate in every dance (you could wander to the bar, it's very relaxed!) and you're not obliged to bring a friend or a partner. This one is perfect for us singletons, you can go alone and you're guaranteed a partner anyway.

You can find the Salsa Aberdeen website - here. Or check out the Salsa Aberdeen Facebook Page. There's a "Masquerade Themed VALENTINES Salsa Party" this Saturday the 11th if you fancy coming to join us. Tell you what, if anything, it'll be a good laugh!

2. 'Pucker Up' at The Tippling House this Valentines...

Meet Kieran (Barman in The Tippling House) He made us **the **Pucker Up' ** (delicious!!)** - A twist on an old classic: The Clover Club. A drink originally created in 1896... but it's been modified, just for us, ladies!

Fancy making it yourself?

  • 40ml Gin
  • 10ml Fino Sherry
  • 25ml Fresh Lemon
  • 10ml Sugar Syrup
  • 4 Fresh Raspberries
  • Egg White

And the steps:

Dry shake, wet shake and double strain into a chilled coupe and garish with bitter hearts. Then... enjoy!

3. Sweet treat at Cocoa Ooze

Who doesn't LOVE chocolate?! We visited Cocoa Ooze's brand new premises up at New Jasmin House. He told us all about the big parties he's doing and I have to say - it's a MUST this Valentines. Jamie taught us how to make chocolate! He then let us loose with it - which turned into us just eating it out of the bowl... Check it out!

4. Spread the love at Cineworld this Valentines

50 Shades Darker comes out on the 10th of February... You just can't miss it!

5. The girls, food, Nick Nairn and wine...

At the Nick Nairn Cook School - you can learn all about how to cook... It could be pizza or steak - whatever takes your fancy! The best part is though - once it's cooked, you get to enjoy it with a nice glass of wine. There is loads of offers available across the weekend and over the Valentines week. What better excuse to get the girls together to learn something new and then indulge in a big catch up over some wine and nibbles?!

So there you have it. Suz and I's guide to being single on Valentines Day! Whatever you decide to do... we hope you have a good one! x
