Councillor Andrew Johnson, the leader of the council, said:
“We are honoured and humbled that the committal service for Her Majesty The Queen will be taking place in our borough at Windsor Castle on Monday 19 September, following the State Funeral in Westminster Abbey.
“It will be an historic and moving moment for us all to remember and pay our respects to The Queen, reflect on her lasting legacy and on her long and close association with the Royal Borough and Windsor in particular, of which we’re extremely proud.
“Although this private service will happen at St George’s Chapel, it will also be televised. Further updates will be available in due course at www.RBWM.gov.uk/HM-The-Queen.”
If you are visiting Windsor to leave a floral tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, please ensure that you remove any plastic packaging from the flowers and leave them outside Cambridge Gate at the top of the Long Walk, as directed by stewards. Flowers from this area will be moved inside Windsor castle on a regular basis.
On Saturday many families visited the castle giving their children an opportunity to be part of the historic event.
Messages ranged from formal to familiar.
Amongst those paying their respects on Saturday a football team from Rossall School in Lancashire - they stopped off on their way to play Eton.
On Saturday evening the Prince and Princess of Wales along with Prince Harry and Meghan visited the tributes and spoke to well wishers.
Windsor is used to major Royal occasions but none will be as sombre as the return to Berkshire of Her Majesty as she's laid to rest next to her husband Prince Philip.
