Jacob Rees-Mogg loses seat in Somerset
Labour narrowly beat out the Conservatives in Somerset North East and Hanham.

Former cabinet minister Jacob Rees-Mogg has lost his seat to Labour’s Dan Norris in the 2024 general election.
Labour have won Somerset North East and Hanham with 20,739 votes, compared to the Conservatives’ 15,420 votes.
It’s another blow for Rishi Sunak’s Conservative party who have suffered defeat across the country.
Rees-Mogg has represented North East Somerset since the 2010 general election.
Over his fourteen years in government, he has served as Leader of the House of Commons, Minister of State for Brexit Opportunities and Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
In a difficult night for the Tories, Labour's Dan Norris has been elected in the Somerset North East and Hanham constituency.
Norris is a familiar name in local politics, having served as Mayor of the West of England since 2021.
