A Newcastle fan who needed emergency treatment after collapsing in the stands during their 3-2 defeat to Tottenham is now in a stable and responsive condition in hospital.

Players were taken off the pitch as the Premier League game was suspended for over 20 minutes while medical staff attended to the supporter.

Posts on social media have praised nurses and doctos who flew into action when the man collapsed. They provided CPR before a defibrillator was used on the man.

Praise has also been given to Tottenham players for alerting the referee to the scenes.

The scenes have sparked a conversation around whether more defibs should be in St James' Park.
