NI Election 2022: indicative voter turnout around 54%
Last updated 6th May 2022
Early indications show voter turnout in the Stormont Assembly polls yesterday (Thursday) was around 54%.
That is the percentage figure given by the Electoral Office of Northern Ireland at 9 last night.
It said the figure was based on the average of returns from polling stations - an hour before they closed at 10pm.
The indicative turn out ranged from 60% in West Belfast to 47% in the South Antrim constituency.
The final figure will not be known until later this morning (Friday).
The turn out at the last Assembly election in 2017 was 64.8%.
Counting is underway at the Titanic Exhibition Centre, Belfast, Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt and the Ulster University campus at Jordanstown.
We’re expecting the first seats to be filled in the afternoon.
