The Metropolitan Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and information in the wake of a shooting at a bar in Enfield.

Officers were first called to the Cora Lounge on Alma Road in Enfield at around 1:40 am on Tuesday morning (February 13), following reports of a shooting.

When responders arrived at the bar, there was no victim - but the injured man was eventually tracked down and found 45 minutes later in the neighbouring borough of Haringey.

The man, who is aged in his 30s, was picked up by emergency services and rushed to hospital, where he currently remains in a critical condition.

Whilst the man's family have been informed of the incident, police have launched an investigation into the shooting and are appealing to anyone who was around the bar in the run-up to the incident taking place to get in touch.

Met Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or have any relevant information.

Speaking about the investigation, Detective Inspector David Hickford from the Met Police said that time is of the essence to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

"This shooting has left a man seriously injured and we have carried out extensive enquiries since the attack to establish what happened," Hickford said.

"We know many people were in the bar at the time and many have not come forward. They may have information that could be vital to our investigation and I urge them to come forward."

He added: "We need to speak with anyone who was there, whether they believe they saw anything significant or not."

Hickford also said that thankfully gun crime incidents such as these are "incredibly rare" in the city and reassured the public that whoever was responsible for the attack was being tracked down.

Anyone who may have any relevant information should get in touch with the police as soon as possible by calling the Metropolitan Police or 101 and quoting incident reference number CAD 4684 from the 16th of February.Hear all the latest news from the North East of Scotland on Northsound 1.
