Cheshire Police are searching for two teenage boys after a woman was robbed at knifepoint in a Warrington park.
At around 2.29pm on Monday 11 March, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at Sankey Valley Park.
The caller reported that a 41-year-old woman was sat on a park bench just off the Sankey canal path, when she was approached by two unknown individuals, believed to be teenage boys, who threatened her and demanded she hand over all her possessions.
The woman refused, at which point one of the boys revealed a small knife to her and she handed over ÂŁ30 in cash to them. They proceeded to threaten her further, asking for her phone. The woman refused and made an attempt to retrieve her stolen money, but whilst doing so, one of the boys kicked her in the face causing considerable facial bruising.
They then fled the scene on foot in the direction of Warrington Hospital, Cheshire Police said.
Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and, as part of the investigation, officers are appealing to anyone with information or video footage to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Hopkins, from CID Reactive North, said:
"This ordeal has left the victim considerably shaken and enquiries are currently underway to identify those responsible.
“As part of our investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.
“I’d also ask residents in the area to check their CCTV or video doorbell footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation.
“The same goes for any motorists with any dashcam footage.”
