King Charles has congratulated the England team on reaching the Euro's 2024 final against Spain but joked about them leaving it to the last minute yet again.

A post on The Royal Family's X account wished the team the "warmest congratulations" after Ollie Watkins scored in the final minutes of the match to set up a clash with Spain in the final on Sunday.

King Charles shared this message with the team: "My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A. European Championship - and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday’s match.

"If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!

"Good luck, England."

Thousands were in the stadium in Dortmund for the nail-biting game against the Netherlands with millions more watching at home on TV or at fan zones across England.

England will face Spain in the final on Sunday at 8pm.
