Boy, six, stabbed in Whiston as woman arrested

Merseyside Police have launched an investigation

A six-year-old boy has been stabbed at a property in Whiston, Merseyside.

At around 4:45pm on Thursday 21 December, police received a report that a boy had been stabbed in the back inside an address on Nelson Avenue.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but police haven't revealed the extent of his injuries.

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.

An investigation is underway with witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area, Merseyside Police confirmed.

Detective Inspector Alan Wood said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages of the investigation to establish what has taken place.

“I would like to reassure everyone that while the exact motive remains unclear, we do not believe there is a wider threat to the community following this incident.”
