West Midlands Police launch appeal following Birmingham hit-and-run
A man has been seriously injured in the incident on Coventry Road
West Midlands Police is launching an appeal for information and witnesses following a hit-and-run incident in Birmingham.
Officers first were alerted to the incident after a car failed to stop on Coventry Road in the east of the city at around 11pm on Friday night (June 7th).
Following this, a 58-year-old man was struck by the car, which was identified as a Seat Leon on the junctions of Muntz Street and Charles Road.
After hitting the man, the car initially stopped at the scene but was soon driven away by the perpetrators.
Pursuing the initial line of enquiries in the wake of the hit-and-run, three boys aged 17, as well as a 19-year-old man, arrived at a police station in Birmingham to hand themselves.
The boys were all arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and currently remain in police custody helping officers in their investigations.
The victim - who has not been publicly identified - was taken to hospital following the incident and currently remains in a critical condition.
Speaking on the case, Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police said that investigations remain ongoing.
"Our investigation is making good progress and we've already spoken to a number of witnesses, but I'd urge anyone with dash cam, helmet cam, or CCTV, to get in touch," he said.
