The much-loved local fizzy drink ‘Moray Cup’ will make a comeback later this month.

Revealed exclusively on the Northsound 1 Breakfast Show with Jeff and Lauren, Moray Cup will return to shelves across the local area. The producer has decided to restart production.

Des Cheyne, of Deveron Direct, a cash and carry retail supplier, called the show to announce that his company would receive the first delivery of the new version of the soft drink within the coming weeks.

Production of the original Moray Cup ceased in 2017.

The new Moray Cup is believed to follow a recipe as close to the original as current ingredients allow. Those who have sampled it say it’s as good as ever.

The bottle is also expected to have been redesigned.

Deveron Direct supplies many retailers across the North East of Scotland, so Moray Cup is expected to appear on shelves throughout the area.

Earlier this year, Jeff and Lauren launched a breakfast show campaign to find the last remaining bottle of Moray Cup.

Alex from Stuartfield called the show to say he still had a crate of twelve bottles in his garage. His friend had sent them to him while serving with the British Army in Afghanistan. These bottles were well-travelled!

Alex brought one of the remaining bottles into the studio and opened it with Jeff and Lauren. Despite being out of date since 2018, it still tasted good, though a little flat.

Soon after, a petition to ‘bring back Moray Cup’ was launched by Jeff and Lauren, attracting thousands of signatures.

Signing the petition, Euan McDonald said “I need my chipper drink back!”

Steven Fraser commented “I loved it as a kid, would love to have it back again”

David Smith typed “It’s a magical taste from my childhood”.
