PFA Scotland is giving its members the opportunity to learn a trade and help prepare for life outside of the game.

The players’ union has teamed up with Robert Crawford at the DIY Trade School, in Coatbridge, to offer members a six week course designed to help them master the art of tiling.

The idea behind the course is to get players thinking about life beyond football and a second career when their playing days come to an end. University and education aren’t for everyone so we are also offering our members the opportunity to learn a trade – this time around it is tiling.

Demand for the course is high with players already putting their names down for the next one. There are also plans in the pipeline for a plumbing course.

Currently on the tiling course are Ross County striker Brian Graham, Partick Thistle forward Chris Erskine, St Johnstone's Danny Swanson, Raith Rovers duo Mark Stewart and Bobby Barr as well as Ross Forbes (Morton), Darren Barr & David Smith (both Dumbarton) and Grant Anderson (Queen of the South).
