Partick Thistle playmaker Steven Lawless has committed himself to the Firhill side for another two years.

The 25-year-old had been linked with moves to both Inverness and relegated Dundee United but has instead rededicated himself to Alan Archibald's team after penning a contract which lasts until the summer of 2018.

His manager said: "Steven has proved over the last few seasons what a valuable part of the squad he is and I'm delighted he's committed his long-term future to us.

"It came as no surprise that Steven had offers from other Ladbrokes Premiership clubs and I'm delighted that we were able to keep hold of him."

The former Motherwell forward joined the Jags ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.

He helped the Maryhill outfit clinch promotion to the top flight at the end of his first season and has gone on to play over 130 games for Thistle.

Archibald is still waiting to hear from Frederic Francs and Gary Miller after handing both defenders fresh contract offers.
