Partick Thistle goalkeeper Ryan Scully is determined to enjoy his latest trip to Ibrox after enduring some miserable previous experiences.

Scully and Callum Booth are the only two Thistle players in the squad to face Rangers on Saturday who have previously played in the Govan stadium.

The 23-year-old keeper made three appearances there on loan for Dunfermline in the 2013-14 season but one of those ended in a 4-0 Scottish Cup loss and another lasted less than five minutes before he dislocated a toe.

Ahead of Thistle's first league trip to Ibrox since 2004, Scully said: "It's going to be a great occasion for the boys to play in a great stadium in front of a packed crowd.

"It was a bit daunting to go out the first time, you have to get yourself ready to go out in that atmosphere.

"But I have had mixed emotions there, I came off injured once and we got a hiding in the Scottish Cup game.

"You need to try and enjoy yourselves on these occasions as well, but you will enjoy yourself even more if you can get a positive result.

"It's a chance for the boys to make headlines and make names for themselves, for big Ade (Azeez) to get a goal or me to make a save or keep a clean sheet.

"We need to embrace the atmosphere and occasion and get a result."

Scully has played the last three games after Tomas Cerny dropped out with a recurrence of a foot injury. The Czech goalkeeper's previous absence coincided with a minor injury for Scully and he is determined to grab this opportunity.

"When Tomas started coming back fit, you feel as if you have missed your chance to stake your claim," he said.

"It's unfortunate for Tomas to go and get injured but it's a good chance for me to get as many games as I can. I'm doing well but I need to build on it.

"You are just going to breed confidence the amount of games you play and the amount of consistency you get playing as number one. I just need to keep my head down and keep doing as best I can and hopefully keep that jersey."
