Morris more interested in wins than goals
Hamilton striker Carlton Morris will not become obsessed with going on a goalscoring run following his winner against Kilmarnock.
Hamilton striker Carlton Morris will not become obsessed with going on a goalscoring run following his winner against Kilmarnock.
Morris scrambled home the only goal at Rugby Park two weeks ago to take his tally for the season to four.
Accies manager Martin Canning has since signed French striker Oumar Diaby and wants more goals from his forwards, but Morris will focus on helping the team rather than going on a goal spree.
"That would always be nice but it's not the thing at the front of my head,'' the on-loan Norwich striker said ahead of the visit of Premiership bottom club Dundee United.
"The most important thing is to win a massive game on Saturday and then pick up as many points as we can before the split.''
The 20-year-old extended his loan spell at the turn of the year and believes he will have more to give Accies as the season progresses.
Morris, who spent time with Oxford and York last season, said: "To be fair it took a bit of time to adapt. It was very different for me being up in Scotland.
"But it's been an excellent experience so far and I have learned a lot.
"I'm just pleased to have an extra 20-25 games at first-team level at such a young age and I'm grateful. I feel a better player for it.
"There's no comparison between this and Under-21 games because there is a real need and urgency to get points at first-team level, which you get a taste for.''
