Rangers boss Mark Warburton is bracing himself for a month and more of intense scrutiny following Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final draw.

The Ibrox club were paired with traditional rivals Celtic with the game taking place at Hampden Park on the weekend of April 16/17.

The build-up to Warburton's first Old Firm match has already started but the former Brentford boss insists he has plenty of other games to keep him occupied until then, starting with the home match against Morton on Friday night where he is looking for his Championship leaders to build on their 12 point advantage over second-placed Falkirk.

He told Rangers' official website said: Obviously I understand the scrutiny and the media mayhem that will ensue.

But the fact is the focus is the league and that won't change, everything is geared up for Morton on Friday night.

The players have earned that semi-final but before that game we have a lot of work to do and we have a healthy position at the top of the league but there are a lot of points still to play for.

I can't pretend that I will have experienced this before, everyone has warned me and the amount of missed calls I got on Sunday afternoon proves it could be interesting.

But if we allow the players to be distracted and take our focus away from the key games, the league games, then we will have an issue.

That won't happen though, they are a great group of players, they are focussed, know what is at stake, know what our main aims are and that is to make sure this club is back in the top flight.

We have Morton, Falkirk, Queen of the South, Raith and Dumbarton and that is before the Petrofac final so that's where the focus needs to be.''

We need to be best prepared and maintain a level of consistency in our performance that hopefully gets us the points we're after.''
