Mark McGhee concerned over Scott McDonald injury after Motherwell beat Stranraer

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee says he is happy with how his side is shaping up - despite Scott McDonald suffering a slight injury in their 3-0 victory against Stranraer in the Betfred Cup.

Second half goals from Christopher Cadden, Marvin Johnson and the Australian striker secured the three points for Motherwell in the group F clash, who now move onto the last 16 of the competition after finishing second.

Australian McDonald came off late in the game with a thigh injury.

Motherwell kick off the next Premiership next weekend away at Kilmarnock, but McGhee isn't too worried saying goals can come elsewhere from the pitch.

We're concerned that we've only got Scott McDonald,'' he said.

He came off with a tight thigh, Louis Moult won't be back until the end of the international break and Jacob Blyth still needs to get up and running, that concerns me a little bit.

But with someone like Marvin (Johnson) and Lionel (Ainsworth), who can improvise a little bit in the middle in the park with Scotty, we should be OK.''
