Hamilton have suffered a major blow after Jesus Garcia Tena was ruled out for much of the season.

The 26-year-old centre-back suffered a knee injury during Hamilton's opening Betfred Cup clash at Ayr and has now been ruled out for at least six months with ligament damage.

Player-manager Martin Canning is also out injured with jaw damage while new signing Georgios Sarris is still working on his fitness.

Canning told the club's official website: "It is a big blow to lose a player of Jesus' technical ability so early in the season. He is a great reader of the game and his skill set will be a big miss for us.

"We wish him well with his operation and subsequent rehab where I am sure he will receive the best of attention."
