Dundee 1 Ross County 1
Craig Curran's equaliser gave bottom-club Ross County a share of the spoils in a 1-1 Premiership draw with off-form Dundee at Dens Park. Curran hit a 64th-minute leveller on his debut after Jim McAlister had opened the scoring shortly before for the Dark Blues, whose recent woes continued as they failed to end their winless run which stands now at eight games. Jim McIntyre's men had also Terence Dunfield red-carded in seven minutes for going in high on Paul McGowan. But despite the numerical advantage, Paul Hartley's Dundee could not get the win they are so desperate for to kick-start their season. It was the visitors who threatened first when Liam Boyce had a half-chance inside the first couple of minutes, but he hacked his shot wide of Scott Bain's goal. Then, at the other end, McGowan tried his luck for the hosts with a long-range effort which Antonio Reguero was relieved to see land on the top of his net. After seven minutes, County were reduced to 10 men. Dunfield went over the ball on McGowan wide on the touchline and was shown a straight red by referee Craig Thomson. Dundee set about trying to make the extra man count and 14 minutes in David Clarkson set up strike partner Greg Stewart whose deft lob went narrowly over the bar. Dundee were doing most of the pressing and almost took the lead in 18 minutes. Kevin Thomson's weighted pass cut open the visiting defence and defender Gary Irvine timed his run brilliantly to beat the offside trap, only to lash his low shot into the side-netting with the goal at his mercy. Dundee came out with all guns blazing after the break and took a deserved lead on 51 minutes. Irvine burst clear down the left and looked up before crossing for McAlister who calmly swept an unstoppable 20-yard left-foot out of the reach of Reguero. That strike helped ease the tension among the home fans and they quickly went in search of another to try and make sure of the points. Luka Tankulic replaced Clarkson in 51 minutes and the German came within inches of making an instant impact. He released Harris down the right whose cross caused havoc inside the box, before Tankulic latched on to the loose ball and his shot came back off the post. County were up against it and after 63 minutes Steven Saunders was booked for a late challenge on Stewart. But the Highlanders levelled on 64 minutes Jackson Irvine's deep cross eluded the entire Dundee defence, allowing Curran to stretch out his leg to stab a shot past Bain to stun the Dens men. Dundee piled on the pressure from then on with McAlister having a golden chance to win it for the hosts on 86 minutes when Stewart nodded down to him, but he shot straight at Reguero from 12 yards. But despite their best efforts the Taysiders could not force a winner as County left Dens with a precious point.
