An atmospheric photo of waves crashing on the rocks at Girdleness has won a competition which asked locals to sum up why they love living in the North-east of Scotland.
The Love Where You Live competition was run by Northsound 2 to celebrate the station becoming the first commercial radio station in Scotland to make the switch to digital from analogue.
The winning shot was taken by Callum Hardie (25), from Aberdeen.
Callum, who works as a purchaser at Vroon Offshore Services, took the snap while out for a walk on a blustery February day.
He said: “It was hard to choose a photo to enter in the Love Where You Live competition but I feel this one represents Aberdeen well. It shows every season in a day - strong winds, clear skies, warm sun and unforgiving waves. It’s cheerful, yet dour at the same time!
“It was a really stormy and freezing cold day, major winds were creating the massive waves in the photo, crashing off the side. I am chuffed to have won the competition as I usually listen to Northsound 2 in the car and we listen to it on a digital radio at work.”
Callum and his partner Emma, who have a four-year-old son, Nicolas, were joined at the spot on the coast road where the photo was taken by Northsound 2 presenter Gina McKie.
Gina presented Callum with prizes including a framed copy of his winning picture, a digital radio courtesy of PURE and Northsound 1 and 2 goodies.
Gina said: “We love Callum’s winning photo, which was taken at a stunning spot and it sums up the many reasons why people love living in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
“We know from talking to them on and off air that our listeners are very proud of where they live and this was evident in the brilliant photos that were submitted, capturing local castles, beaches, countryside and parks.
“Congratulations to Callum for taking the perfect pic!”
