A yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for most of the North and North East.

Two separate warnings are in place beginning Tuesday at 5pm and lasting until Thursday at 11am.

Wintry showers are expected to cause icy conditions during the evening and into the morning on untreated roads.

The Met Office are warning of up to 5cm of snow over higher ground in the North East.

There could also be disruption to travel, including rail and bus services, due to "hazardous" conditions.
