Woman cleared over fatal crash
36-year-old Vicki Williamson has walked free from court, after a not proven verdict of causing of her partner's death through careless driving
A woman's been cleared of causing her boyfriend's death by careless driving in Aberdeen.
26-year old Burger King employee Liam Thornton was fatally injured in the crash on the Charleston flyover at the A90 on August 12th 2004.
A dog also died in the accident and a 4-year-old child was injured.
Lawyers for the driver - 36-year-old Vicki Williamson from Dundee - argued that the slip road was in a poor state of repair, especially in the wet conditions.
One police officer who gave evidence said there was no evidence that Ms Williamson had been driving dangerously before the crash.
She's walked free from court after the jury delivered a not proven verdict - but she has been fined and given three penalty points for having a defective tyre.
After the verdict a relative of Mr Thornton said it was ridiculous that three points on a license was all "Liam's life was worth."
