A woman has been assaulted by a man over the weekend in the centre of Aberdeen.

It happened between 3.30am and 4am in the St Andrew's Street area.

Police Scotland wants to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident involving the 28-year-old woman.

Detective Sergeant Karen Main, who is leading the investigation, said: "I would appeal for anyone who was in this area around this time to please contact Police as a matter of urgency - any information at all may be of assistance as we piece together what happened.

"In particular we would like to speak to a male and female who were out walking a dog that morning in the area. It's understood they spoke to the female after the incident in question and they may have valuable information that could help with our enquiries."
