It looks like the new fleet of maritime patrol aircraft will be based at RAF Lossiemouth.

The nine new Boeing P8 aircraft will replace the Nimrod fleet which was scrapped several years ago.

They were based at nearby RAF Kinloss.

It's part of a multi-billion pound defence review which will also see Royal Navy ships being built on the Clyde.

Meanwhile RAF Lossiemouth is at the centre of a Russian submarine drama this morning.

French and Canadian aircraft based there are believed to be searching for a sub which has been was spotted off the Scottish coast.
