There’s a new kid on the block in Pets’ Corner in Hazlehead - a new young pigmy goat called Gethin.
The young animal was born in February and has been in Aberdeen for about two weeks.
Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure vice convener Councillor Jean Morrison said: “Gethin is certainly very cute and is certain to be a hit attraction with young and old alike. “His arrival in Pets’ Corner just adds to the variety of animals which is fantastic for a lot of youngsters who may not have met them face-to-face before. “The staff at the facility work very hard to not just look after the animals but also explain their natural habitats and characteristics to people visiting Pets’ Corner.” Gethin, who is only about 50cm tall, was paid for by the Friends of Hazlehead Park group, which works with Aberdeen City Council to improve the facilities at the park and promote its attractions.
Donald Shaw, chairman of Friends of Hazlehead Park, said: “We are more than happy to have helped to bring Gethin to Pets’ Corner as we know how valued and popular the facility is in the park. “We’d encourage families and friends to visit Gethin over the summer holidays while maybe making a day of it - a picnic in the park followed by a walk is a brilliant way to spend a day.”
