Back in 1999, Paul Lawrie became Open champion at Carnoustie, winning the famous Claret Jug ahead of Jean Van De Velde.

Yesterday, the pair renewed their rivalry in a challenge match at Ardoe, in aid of the Aberdonian's golfing foundation.

Lawrie emphatically saw off the Frenchman by 4 holes in the Matchplay event and afterwards they spoke to Northsound Sports Editor Dave Galloway.
