WATCH: Aberdeen's new Syrian community on their first year in the Granite City
A group of refugees are helping to tackle food poverty in the city
After fleeing the war in Syria to live in Aberdeen - a group of refugees are saying thank you to the city they now call home.
They've been living here for almost a year after the city council vowed to resettle some of those escaping the conflict.
We caught up with them to hear their stories of escaping war, and resettling in Scotland.
One of the women told us she and her family walked for miles to the border to try and get away from the ongoing war.
She said: "We felt we had to leave, it took us 18 hours to get from Syria to Kurdistan and it was 18 hours of terror and fear."
Another added: "The most important thing is we feel safe, we feel safe going out.
"We're not scared, however the most difficult bit is our families. Although they are in the countries bordering Syria we can't see them."
The group of six women now want to do charity work to give something back - and they'll be cooking traditional Syrian meals for users of the CFINE foodbank this weekend.
