Muse Developments have revealed a new animation of the Marischal Square project in Aberdeen City centre.
Muse Developments have revealed a new animation of the Marischal Square project in Aberdeen City centre.
THE PROJECT SHOULD BE COMPLETE BY JULY 2017
These are the brand new images of the £107m Marischal Square, that have been released by developers Muse.
Now, the project has not been without its controversy, with campaigners launching online petitions, holding demonstrations, and even creating a human link around the site earlier this year.
Up until now a number of artists impressions of the outside of the proposed building have been released, but none by Muse themselves.
HOW THE PLANS LOOK
A number of the final details had yet to be decided upon, until now. But they have now revealed that two-thirds of the outside of the building will be glass with the rest made of granite.
Another topic of concern has been Provost Skene's House, which lies bang in the middle of the new development. Many Aberdonians are worried that the historic site will be lost amongst the new building.
But Muse have confirmed today that they are working with Aberdeen City Council and Historic Scotland to inject £500,000 into restoring the historic building, and creating a civic space surrounding it.
DEVELOPMENT INCLUDES 173,500 sq ft. GRADE ‘A’ OFFICE SPACE
The developers are 22 weeks into what will be a 116 week-long project, and they are currently setting the basement level and laying the foundations.
Once completed it's going to include:
> Two office buildings providing 173,500 sq ft of Grade A office space with parking.
> Seven restaurants and café bars occupying 28,000 sq ft of ground floor space, including 'All Bar One' and 'Burger & Lobster'.
> A 126-room Residence Inn by Marriott.
> A civic space around a regenerated. Provost Skene’s House.
> A number of retail spaces.
WE’LL SEE A 126 ROOM RESIDENCE INN BY MARIOTT
Previously the site used to be home to the 14-storey St Nicholas House council building, built in 1968. But in 2011, more than 1,000 council staff left the building for the newly-refurbished Marischal College.
