Aberdeen City Council (ACC) will bring up to 500 unused properties back into use, making more longer-term accommodation available across the city.

It's after Neil Gray, Minister with Special Responsibilities for Refugees from Ukraine, announced that ACC would benefit from more than ÂŁ6 million in funding.

The money awarded comes from the Ukraine Longer Term Resettlement Fund.

MSP for Aberdeen Central, Kevin Stewart, has welcomed the news, saying: "As a city, Aberdeen continues to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, welcoming those fleeing war with open arms.

"This funding represents a significant investment from the Scottish Government, allowing Aberdeen to continue offering a warm Doric welcome to families who have been forced to leave their homes because of Putin’s war on Ukraine.

"It is vital that we continue to provide safety and support to these often-traumatised people in their hour of need, and this funding will ensure that this support continues in the longer-term."
